A Golden Finale To An Amazing Season For The Burlington Panthers

Mississauga, April 3-5, 2009 - Fresh from winning the Southern Region Banner game against Mississauga just a week before, the Panthers were at it again at the Regional Tournament. The Burlington team faced the host team, the Mississauga Mustangs, in their first game of the tournament. With the recent history behind these two teams, revenge was expected from the Mustangs, and the Panthers were ready to meet the challenge. With discipline and hard work by all players, the Panthers defeated the Mustangs 5-2.

In the next game, Burlington played against Newmarket, and won in a 4-0 shutout - the second of the season for Carly and her teammates. The two wins advanced the Panthers to the gold medal game on Sunday against, yes, Mississauga Mustangs.

The ice was set for a very exciting game between these two arch rivals in their final match of the season, and they didn't disappoint. The Burlington Panthers played solidly at both ends of the rink, and successfully managed to keep the Mustangs off the scoresheet until late into the second period. The Panthers won the game with a 5-1 final score and were awarded the gold medal.

Congratulations to all Panthers players and the Coaches for an amazing season of ringette, and thank you for a year full of fun, nail-biting excitement, and great friendships.
